Seems as though a month has flown by since my last blog, life keeps spinning us round that labyrinth and time never slows down. A couple of things have caught my interest this month.
Seems fitting there was a huge storm here last week to blow some of the cobwebs away and make way for Spring. They called this storm “Storm Doris”. We never used to name storms in the UK, I wonder why all of a sudden they are naming them, it only increases people’s fear in my opinion. Before a storm had a name, it was just a storm and no extra weight added to it. Now there is extra tension and anticipation whenever a storm is expected. Whatever happened to the plain and simple fact that nature is our boss and will storm when she pleases :)
Quite a humbling fact to know we are not head of the chain of life in some ways, Gaia is a good reminder of that.
Today (26th February) brings a new moon and solar eclipse. A great time to claim the new beginnings you desire and release things that no longer serve you for the good. I always had an affinity for the moon. Surreal yet majestic, inviting yet chilling in some ways. The older I get, the more I feel her pull, she is a timeless power, a constant to the ever changing tides.
Speaking of tides, I read in The Guardian paper recently that Fukushima’s nuclear reactor radiation is at its highest level since the 2011 meltdown.
The amount of marine life washing up on shores throughout the world with growths all over them or even dead is astonishingly high and deeply concerning.
At this point, I am not sure what the answer is and if there is indeed an answer to be had, all I know is the Fukushima situation is seriously undernoted and we all need to be keeping an eye on how it unfolds, if it isn’t already too late to do so.
Another thing that happened this week is a gathering of witches came together to collectively bind Donald Trump. Don’t get me wrong, he is not someone I would give the time of day to and his policies are far from my liking to say the least but this gathering of witches has got such hype it was even reported by the BBC News here.
I am Wiccan myself and though not everyone follows the three fold ideal in Wicca, I have to question such actions. Witch or not, whoever the person may be, binding or cursing is serious business and should never be done lightly. It is not ethical in my opinion and everyone has their right to free will. To bind that free will is an act of ego even if it is done with good intention.
Time would be much better spent by sending out light and positive thoughts in mass than by binding someone’s free will.
It is said magick is neither black or white, it is whatever lies in the practitioner’s heart that determines the shade and energy sent out. The history of Witchcraft has long been demonised by those who do not understand something they fear and I feel this recent act of binding Trump will only add to the misconceptions that have taken so long to overturn. This act of binding has already set some Christian folk on edge and some see it as a “religious war” starting.
Everyone has their views and will either agree or disagree but I felt compelled to voice about this. In one fell swoop, something as sacred and loving as the practice of Witchcraft has become a public mockery. Such a gathering of numbers could have sent a better message and as I previously mentioned, sent out light to combat the darkness the world seems to be in at the moment.
I only pray to the Morrigan that the effect this recent hype has brought to those who practice the old ways is not detrimental and a re-run of history is kept at bay.
It is becoming apparent to me that everything is changing from every angle, still I keep busy being myself and losing myself in violin.
Current status = vibrato is kicking my (censored).
I hope the new moon bestows each one of you positive times, Goddess knows we all need a fresh path of positivity to walk upon.
